Clocks Go Back, Nation Receives One Free Hour, Nobody Knows What to Do With It
Experts agree the extra 60 minutes is “roughly the length of one long nap or four short regrets.”
At 2 a.m. this morning the clocks rolled back, and a whole hour appeared out of thin air. Households woke up to find it sitting on the kitchen table, unclaimed, like a parcel addressed to “The Occupant.”
A quick survey outside three bakeries suggests that 41% of people spent the hour looking for a second hour. A further 27% spent it reheating the same cup of tea, and the rest simply stared at the oven clock that nobody ever remembers to change.
The Ministry of Spare Minutes advises citizens to use the hour responsibly: stretch, text an old friend, or finally read the terms and conditions of that one app. Use the Extra Hour Machine on this page if you need ideas.
